Steninge Slott | |||
![]() The name Steninge Slott is one steeped in history. It is a palace that has been owned by some of the most important families in Swedish aristocracy. The first known dwelling appeared somewhere in the late 1200s. From the Gyllenstierna family to the von Fersens, Steninge Slott has been bought sold, given as a wedding gift and renovated by famous architects. Now it is a cultural center which promotes the fine arts. Judging from the pieces represented in our shop, the name Steninge Slott evokes bright colors and innovative techniques. The decorative plates and vases are painted using a new technique referred to as the Steninge technique, to ensure the glass is suffused with color and light instead of having the color merely rest on the surface. Steninge was acquired by a Norwegian company called CG Holdings which also owns Lindshammar as well as the Norwegian glassworks Hadeland. Many of Lindshammar's designers also market their products under Steninge Slott's trademark: Britten Pååg, Lena Hansson, Jan Wiberg, Lars Sestervik and Birgitta Watz, to name a few.
