![]() Björn Ekegren was originally a painter. His early works consisted of highly esteemed watercolors and lithographs done in a naturalistic, almost impressionistic style where light and atmosphere were integral components in the expression of the change of seasons. Nowadays he works as a sculptor, mostly with sandcast glass but also in bronze. The central theme of Björn Ekegren's artwork is the spirit of liberty expressed by forms that appear to break out and rise. Björn Ekegren's international breakthrough came a few years ago when Elton John was in Sweden and saw Björn Ekegren's glass sculptures in a gallery in Stockholm. He bought several of them. Later, Elton John was showing the glass sculptures on a BBC program. Björn Ekegren´s success became a fact.
